The grand tradition of the Jekyll Island Club Hotel began a century ago, when it was founded as an exclusive retreat for members of America's highest society. Today, where Morgan, Pulitzer, Rockefeller and Vanderbilt once came to relax, The Jekyll Island Club Hotel has been restored to it's original splendor - with the addition of complete modern convenience. The island features 63 holes of challenging golf on 3, par 72 eighteen hole courses and one 9 hole course. There are 9 tennis courts - one indoor. The heated outdoor swimming pool is next to the Clubhouse, while Surfside Beach Club, on the Atlantic Ocean, is three quarters of a mile away. Complimentary transportation is provided for guests throughout the island. In addition, the hotel offers a regulation size croquet lawn, bicycle rentals year-round and children's programs during our Summer months. Jekyll Island is an environmentally protected area. There are ten miles of beach, twenty miles of bicycling and jogging trails, historic tours, and Summer Waves, a local waterpark. Nearby are additional golf courses, horseback riding facilities, carriage tours, boating, deep sea and inshore fishing and miniature golf. The Club's guest rooms and suites have been custom-decorated in a style befitting the elegance presumed by the original socialite owners. Two-poster mahogany beds, armoires, chairs, sofas, desks and tables are enhanced by rich fabrics and plush carpeting. All rooms have interior shutters. Many rooms feature fireplaces and/or Jacuzzi tubs and all rooms feature multiple telephones, AM/FM clock radios and an array of custom bath amenities.
